The worst day in the life of detective Mark Corley began with a pledge for his own son Trent and continued with a terrifying sight of the invasion of alien spacecraft taking thousands of people directly from the streets of cities, subways, and windows of skyscrapers. In a desperate attempt to find the kidnapped son, Mark enters to the spacecraft, where he meets the heroes of the first film - Elaine and the mutilated aliens Jarod.
The attempt to destroy the spacecraft from the inside leads to the collapse and fall of it directly to the center of Shanghai, where the heroes are saved by the fighters of the Chinese resistance. Together they have to repulse the attack of furious aliens and forever return the planet to those to whom it belongs – to the Eart inhabitants.
